Story Of This Week: RR/RW Challenge "BOO HOO Ep."

episode 06 Its a new day and a new mission for the Challenge teams still at the resort. The teams participate in Vertical Limit, an extreme rope-climbing competition. Holly and Theo set the bar pretty high as the first team to complete the challenge, earning 33 points. They seem to have the $20,000 shopping spree in hand until Kelley destroys the competition by getting 21 points by herself. With her points added to Dannys points, they easily win. Thankfully, this competition was much less vicious than the Inner Tube Tango.
But all is not well with either group. Road Rules is trying to get some of the unity and team concept that Real World has created. Dan suggests that they work on a money split so that everyone gets five grand and the winning team still walks away with about 40 grand apiece. Just about everyone seems okay with the idea except for Holly, who is still stinging from the ouster of her husband during the last Inner Circle. They form this new Inner Circle with nothing decided and bad blood still simmering between the teams.
The Real Worlders, however, feel like they have a virus. His name is Stephen. He is having a hard time getting along with anyone on his team, especially Coral, who has been in every Inner Circle so far. Even with their verbal agreement to vote off the weakest team, it seems that everyone on the RW side knows that there are two ways to go in this Inner Circlevoting off the team with the lowest score or voting off the team causing the most turmoil.
 FULL GRAMMY COVERAGE!
Diverse Performances Steal The Show The GRAMMYs may succeed best at bringing music to the small screen
GRAMMY.com

Alicia Keys, U2 and the ensemble musicians of the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack were rightfully beaming after their multiple wins at the 44th Annual GRAMMY Awards. But after watching the telecast's 17 richly diverse live performances, one couldn't help but feel that somewhere the ghost of Ed Sullivan wasn't smiling a little, too. The columnist turned TV variety show king built much of his legendary show's success on a similar musical eclecticism, freely trading on pop, country, jazz, rock, classical and Broadway, sometimes mixing several together in one memorable evening. But it's doubtful even Sullivan in his prime could have pulled off the trans-genre spectacle that was the 2002 GRAMMY telecast.
While there may be seemingly endless press analysis about GRAMMY winners or fashions, few may take note of one of the GRAMMY telecast's most inspiring aspects: returning live music and lots of it to television in a big way. It's somewhat ironic, but 20 years after "Video Killed the Radio Star," live music on television has largely been relegated to late-night variety shows or syndicated weekend fare. The 44th GRAMMY Awards telecast was a strong reminder that TV can present music as well and often better than anything else it does.
U2 opened the evening in dramatic fashion, its vibrant version of "Walk On" both foreshadowing and bookending its ultimate triumph as Record Of The Year. It was a performance masterfully captured from every angle of the massive Staples Center in Los Angeles, lending it the ambience of the inclusive, bigger-than-life arena rock that U2 embodies.
But just moments later viewers were treated to the first of many of the show's surprising turns, as Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink boldly strutted through their Moulin Rouge remake of LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade," a performance that would soon go on to win for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. Its theatrical costumes and staging somehow bridged the 19th and 21st centuries, La Belle Epoque with hip-hop, capped by a show-stopping cameo by the wailing, crimson-clad diva herself, Patti LaBelle.
But as U2's Bono noted after the show, the aftermath of Sept. 11 couldn't help but shade many of the performances. Indeed, there was an almost palpable undercurrent of American musical tradition running throughout many of the performances, from the resurgent, triumphant bluegrass tribute to Album Of The Year winner O Brother, Where Art Thou? (which featured a trans-generational ensemble that included fellow winners Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley and the Soggy Bottom Boys) to the gritty club blues ambience of rock legend/multi-nominee Bob Dylan and the vibrant classicism of violinist Joshua Bell's medley from Leonard Bernstein's epochal West Side Story.
The seemingly ageless Tony Bennett (a remarkable artistic bridge to the first, simpler GRAMMY telecast of 44 years ago) teamed with Billy Joel, the tuxedoed duo serving up a warmly received version of the latter's "New York State Of Mind" that was gratifyingly infused with the saloon-singer swagger it's sorely missed since Sept. 11.
America's R&B heritage was both well served and infused with fresh new promise in a trio of diverse performances by newcomers: multi-winner Alicia Keys (Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song), Best Female Pop Vocal Performance winner Nelly Furtado and multi-nominee India.Arie. One of the evening's big winners, the 20-year-old Keys turned in a dramatic performance of "Fallin'" that was a virtual live video remix, incorporating hip-hop shadings and flamenco/tango dance moves. Further underscoring the show's notable contrasts, Furtado served up a soulful, stripped-down version of her winning "I'm Like A Bird," backed solely by guitarist Steve Vai, while India.Arie's nominated "Video" paid tribute to legends Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway at the same time it bolstered her pride and staked her own free-spirited artistic claims.
Train's signature song "Drops Of Jupiter" may have kept U2 from a perfect sweep of the rock awards, but their energetic, straightforward performance of the song made great use of the large stage and its state-of-the-art lighting, as well as a stirring, classically inspired cello and orchestra intro. It was certainly a sharp departure from the intimate play of shadow and light, close-ups and slightly skewed angles that added an edge of mystery to the Dave Matthews Band's intimate performance of their nominated song "The Space Between."
While a gold lame-clad Mary J. Blige again staked her claim as a power-diva supreme, the winning rap duo OutKast (strong contenders for the evening's unofficial Sartorial Sublime-to-Ridiculous award) served up a good-natured performance of their Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group-winning "Ms. Jackson" that also took advantage of the spacious stage, cleverly filling it out with children playing and a tambourine-shaking gospel ensemble.
The evening's final reminders of the legacy of Sept. 11 came courtesy of Alan Jackson's stirring rendition of the bittersweet anthem "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" and the uplifting gospel all-star finale, featuring fervent turns in the spotlight by Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Reverend Al Green, Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album winner CeCe Winans and a riveting introduction by Brian McKnight at the piano. After the evening's rich diversity of performances and the mixed emotions of this particular moment in history, it ended the show on a welcome note of hope and unity.
Olympics Coming to An End...But Not Without More Drama!
WHILE HUGHES PLAYED the same role as Tara Lipinski four years ago, Kwan made two major mistakes to fall to third, behind Russian Irina Slutskaya, who won the silver medal. I skated for pure enjoyment, the 16-year-old Hughes said. Thats how I wanted my Olympic moment to be. It was a moment that stunned nearly everyone including the New Yorker who was sitting in the dressing room when Kwan and Slutskaya fell off the top spot in the podium with ordinary programs.
We were both so shocked, because it wasnt even on the radar screen, Wagner said. Hughes is a year older than Lipinski was at the Nagano Games. She also was a much longer shot to win because Lipinski owned a world title in 1998. Hughes best was a bronze at last years world championships. And Kwan is a far more accomplished skater now, with four world and six U.S. titles. I think I was a little more disappointed in Nagano, just because I skated much better, Kwan said. Tonight it was one of those things. I dont know what didnt go my way.
I have experienced so much the last four years, Kwan said, and I realized it doesnt matter the color of medal. But then she showed off a plastic gold medal she was given by 1976 gold medalist Dorothy Hamill. I know its not as heavy as this one, she said, comparing Hamills gift to the real thing. Then looking at the elusive gold, she added, This is the color of medal I would have liked. That color belonged to Hughes, but it easily could have been Slutskayas. Shes now finished ahead of Kwan in seven of their last nine meetings, but she was too conservative as the final skater.
Brandy's Pregnant!
Brandy really is all grown up she and her husband, producer/songwriter Robert Smith, are expecting a child, Atlantic Records said Thursday (February 21).
The baby is expected in a few months, meaning that summer will have yet another meaning for the 23-year-old singer/actress she made her big-screen debut in "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," and she was married to Smith last summer (see "Brandy Reveals Secret Marriage To Producer").
Brandy plans to maintain a full schedule while promoting Full Moon, her third album, which is due March 5 (see "Brandy Comes Full Circle On Full Moon"). RR/RW "Kick the Married Couple OFF!"

episode 05 Inner Tube Tango continues with Piggy and Chadwick already eliminated. Things get heated in the pool when competitors start holding tubes for their partners and generally doing anything necessary to stay in the competition. Stephen is especially aggressive with arms flailing every which way. Hes so active in the pool that noone wants to stand near him so he gets to the front of the line. He and Lindsay eventually win the competition but there are some bruised egos and faces in the aftermath. Adam notes that "Stephen punched Jisela in the nose and so if I have an opportunity to go head to head with Stephen, Im going to break his legs out."
The Inner Circles are formed and after a brief discussion, the Real Worlders agree to follow with their arrangement and eliminate the team with the lowest score. The Road Rulers dont have as easy a decision. Holly has made it into the Inner Circle but her husband, Chadwick, has not. The bad blood between the old alliance is obvious as Emily makes it well known that she thinks Piggy and Chadwick should go. Dan and Tara are in agreement, for the good of the RR team. Holly argues that its hypocritical of everyone to want to vote off the 4th best team when they didnt like that strategy last time. Tara sees right through this strategy though, "Holly is taking a strong stance. She wants to change the rules, which is what anyone would expect. Of course she doesnt want her husband to go home"
Its time to announce whose being sent home. The Road Rulers are first and Holly refuses to even stand with the rest of the Inner Circle. Dan reveals that Chadwick and Piggy are going home for the betterment of the team. Everyone seems unhappy and uncomfortable with the entire situation. Holly decides that the rest of these people have made an enemy of her. The RW vote is much easier to take. Mike and Sharon already know they will be gone and are okay with it. The RW lovefest continues as Stephen thanks them for participating and for their respective great personalities. Sharon tearfully gives a pep talk to her team telling everyone that they have to "Take it to the Top!"

Very Cold Air Arrives Saturday, Spreads South and East
"The fuse may have been lit which could result in an explosive end to this winter." --AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Bastardi
Arctic air will arrive Saturday in the northern Plains. Temperatures will be more than 30 degrees below the readings on Friday. This cold air will spread south and east and record low temperatures are likely in the Deep South early next week.
The five- to ten-day outlook includes the possibility of more than one significant winter storm for the eastern half of the United States. View Joe's video below for more information.
Olympic Contreversy Salt Lake City- I CANT REALLY ENJOY THIS, Sikharulidze said Friday. I understand that I have a gold medal and its finished already, but Im only talking about a bad situation and about judges who made bad things happen. I cant even talk to my parents about this.
Later, at a reception honoring new mens Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin and silver medalist Yevgeny Plushenko, Sikharulidze said: We just want to put an end to this scandal, to be friends with our fellow athletes and be one happy figure skating family once again. This whole ordeal took a lot out of all of us, thats why we were glad it ended one way or the other.
This is the flip side of the IOC decision to award a gold medal to the Canadian couple whose Monday night silver medal prompted such an enormous outcry. What happens to the winners, whose only crime was skating their best? Sikharulidzes bitterness is not directed at Canadians Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, who received a second gold medal for the pairs figure skating event that ended in controversy. Sikharulidze and partner Elena Berezhnaya won the free skate 5-4 to take the gold. But when a French judge admitted she was pressured to vote for the Russians, Olympic and skating officials decided to declare co-champions.

Road Rules vs. Real World Challenge Ep 02 "Hurricane Ep" episode 02 The Road Rulers feel a little bushwacked after the big vote. Theo is sad that Yes and Veronica are no longer there. Chadwick and Holly are getting a little ostracized and Jisela doesnt appreciate Adam fraternizing with the enemy. Having been burned once by voting, Jisela is not about to get caught off guard again. She thinks that "Adam is naive as far as the politics of the game." While the RR team threatens to implode, Hurricane Juliette threatens Cabo San Lucas. Hosts Mark and Eric inform everyone that the days challenge is cancelled because of bad weather and that they should prepare for the hurricane. When it finally hits, power is out and everyone starts to go stir crazy. The guys apparently play shirtless scrabble, allowing words like "sh*thead" and "fo'shizel," while the girls go insane searching for water to shower with and smelling each others armpits. The insanity finally turns into a party as Norman, Coral and a few others come up with the idea for a Hurricane Toga Party, complete with a VIP room and a toga contest. Sharon wins the contest and gets a very risqu lapdance from Doorman "The Miz." While everyone else parties, Belou stays in her room with her child, probably thinking about her heated argument with Holly and Chadwick earlier in the day. Chadwick and Holly also stay away from the party, choosing to be with each other rather than hang with the heathens.
Mandy Moore's New Movie Up Against Britneys! A Walk to Remember based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks Available as a paperback, audiobook and eBook from Warner Books. Each Spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, when the wind smells of pine and salt and the sea, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life. Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. Serious and conservative, she was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didnt care. The daughter of the towns Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon hung with the in-crowd -- an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado. He had no plans, no future and no faith in himself. One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Clubs Spring play two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Clearly in over his head, Landon is forced to ask her for help. Soon, against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isnt easy. For reasons of her own, Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny. Being together will test everything that they believe in. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.

BRITNEY, BRITNEY, BRITNEY! Since first stepping into the limelight, 20-year-old Britney Spears has adopted an array of personas to match her comprehensive wardrobe of costumes. First, at age 11, she was the sweet and apple-cheeked Mouseketeer. Fast forward to her 1999 debut album, ... Baby One More Time, and she was the sexy-but-innocent student in parochial-school skirt and thigh-highs. She then morphed into curious adolescent, cabaret performer and sexually confident woman, among other guises, in the two years leading up to her latest album, Britney. But while suppressing the milk-and-cookies everyteen image in favor of something a lot more adult-oriented with such songs as "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Boys," obstacles remain in her transformation from naive pop tart to sultry sex symbol (after all, she is just talking about dancing in those songs). Britney's most personal LP yet dilutes the sexually suggestive tracks with more wholesome fare, such as the hot-date jitterbug "Anticipating" and fairy tale crush "Bombastic Love." Britney's latest single, "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet A Woman," best describes her dichotomous state as someone who intends to prove she's a grown-up living in the spotlight while keeping tethered to a past rooted in rural Kentwood, Louisiana. The song doubles as a summation of her feature film debut, "Crossroads," which opens February 15. In it, Britney slips into her most well-suited role since she really was "that innocent" as Lucy, who, along with two friends, vacates her small town on a cross-country quest to find her estranged mother (played by Kim Cattrall of "Sex and the City") and enter a music contest in Los Angeles. Along the way, she finds love and experiences the first confused pangs of adulthood. Blink182's New Tour! Bastions of '90s punk Green Day and Blink-182 will embark on a co-headlining jaunt, beginning April 17 in Bakersfield, California. The 41-city Pop Disaster Tour will continue through June 17 in Minneapolis, according to a tour publicist. Venues have yet to be hammered out. Jimmy Eat World will tag along for the first half of the tour, and Saves the Day have come aboard for the second bunch of dates, Blink singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge revealed on "TRL" Wednesday (February 13). Local bands and lesser-known acts chosen by the headliners will comprise the fourth band on the bill. The outing marks the first tour of the new year for Blink-182, whose third single, "First Date," from last year's Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, continues to be a hit at radio and video outlets. Before commencing the trek, Blink singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge and drummer Travis Barker might be a little road weary already. The pair, along with Over My Dead Body guitarist Dave Kennedy, is expected to tour behind the debut album from the side-project Boxcar Racer, according to an MCA Records publicist, though dates have yet to be sorted out (see "Blink-182's Tom DeLonge Salutes His Roots On New Album"). Green Day will wrap a five-date tour of Japan on April 4 in Osaka before creating Pop Disaster with their pogo-ing brethren. The Bay Area trio are hitting the road on the heels of their greatest-hits collection, last year's International Superhits! which also features two new songs, "Maria" and "Poprocks & Coke." Those tracks, as well as three untitled songs that were posted on the group's Web site (greenday.net) in November (see "Green Day Offer Preview Of Demos Online"), are expected to make their live debuts. A new album consisting of B-sides and rarities is expected in summer.
Weather Story of this Week The weather phenomenon known as El Nio may return this summer (it was last seen in 1997-1998). El Nio, a periodic phenomenon, is the warming of waters in the equatorial Pacific Ocean and can affect the weather all across the world. At times El Nio generates flooding, drought and severe winter storms. Although El Nio has only recently received the attention of the media, it has been around for centuries. During El Nio years, the jet stream over the Pacific strengthens between cold and warm air, then a split develops in the eastern Pacific. The southern branch of the jetstream sends heavy storms into California and across the southern tier of the United States, creating above-normal rainfall. Other Weather Story of this Week! (there's two!) If you live in the eastern United States and you have been suspecting that this winter has been warmer than normal, it has. Temperatures have been above normal for the eastern half of the nation and southern Canada, with much above normal readings prevalent in the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada. As you can see below, a snow drought continues for the big cities in the Northeast; New York City has picked up a mere three and a half inches of snow this season, Philadelphia has recorded 4 inches and Washington D.C. is just short of three inches. One reason for this warm weather is that persistent low pressure in southern Canada has blocked the frigid Arctic air from moving southward. The result is an abundance of warm air over the East. My Version of "All Access Week"!
The week of March 17-23 i will massivly update my website...and from now till than you will notice BIG changed im gunna have alot more webpages than usual...but they will all go away midnight march 23rd!...so catch them while they are there!
Road Rules vs. Real World Challenge NEW EP! episode 04 Hurricane Juliette has come and gone and left a completely different situation in its wake. The Real World team is a loopy dysfunctional family big on love, sharing and the spirit of togetherness. With Lawyer Sean leading them, they all decide to "split all the prize money amongst ourselves and then just vote off the weakest players." Meanwhile, the Road Rules team is the exact opposite. Jisela is convinced that Holly and Chadwick are forcing people into alliances and that they muscled Emily into the deal. Emily confirms this, saying that "if we dont form an alliance with them like they have requested, were the next team to be voted off." Piggy disagrees with this claim. She doesnt think anyone was forced into anything and that it's unfair of Emily to paint the rest of them as bad guysit was a mutual decision. They decide to have a team meeting to clear the air. While the Road Rulers are fighting and everyone on RW is drinking and doing the free love thing like it's 1968, Stephen is acting like J. Edgar Hoover. Hes listening in on cast member interviews and taking notes outside the big RR meeting. Hes paranoid and no one can figure out why. Even though the RW team has agreed to this plan of voting off the weakest players, his erratic behavior is making everyone uncomfortable and has Lindsay fearing that they might be the next to go. As the show closes, the teams are starting the Musical Inner Tube Challenge. Real World Ep. 5! Episode 5 It seems pretty obvious to everyone that Keri likes Kyle and Kyle likes Keri, but there's a problem. Kyle has a long-time girlfriend at home that he really loves, Nicole, and he's trying really hard not to do anything to jeopardize their relationship. He says, "Nicole and I met two and a half years ago and we jumped into this fairy-tale love." Apparently the fairy tale includes Keri because Kyle seems to enjoy spending a lot of time in the same bed with her, flirting. While Kyle, Keri and the rest of the cast members are bonding in Chicago, Tonya is back in Walla Walla with Justin and her doctors. When she lands, it's pretty clear that homesickness was as big a factor in her coming home as her physical illness. Tonya says that she "realized that Walla Walla is an incredible place with amazing people that is the closest to a home that [shes] ever had." Keri and Kyles flirtatious relationship isnt always wonderful. When Kyle's friends come into town, he gets stand-offish with Keri. He doesnt want his friends to think that theres something going on with her, especially since they are used to him being with Nicole. When Keri and Cara decide to join Kyle and his buddies out for a night on the town, things get heated because Kyle ignores Keri the entire time. As the show closes, the two are arguing outside the bar.

Jimmy Eat World??? There is no substitute for knowing exactly why you like a piece of art, in any medium, and having come to the realization by your own effort and experience. Jimmy Eat World is a band whose only agenda is to let the listener decide for themselves without pretense. Jimmy Eat World was formed in February 1994 in Mesa, Arizona. After releasing a handful of 7" singles, split records, and a self-titled LP through Tempe- based Wooden Blue Records, Jimmy Eat World signed to Capitol Records. In 1995, original bassist Mitch Porter left the band and Rick Burch joined. This lineup recorded Jimmy Eat World's 1996 Capitol debut, "Static Prevails." Jimmy Eat World toured extensively in the United States after the release of "Static Prevails" and continued to release split records with the bands Sense Field, Mineral, Jejune, and Blueprint. "Clarity" was engineered and mixed during the summer of 1998 by Mark Trombino (Blink 182, No Knife, Drive Like Jehu...), who co-produced the record with the band. The rhythm tracks for "Clarity" were recorded at Sound City in Van Nuys, CA. Then each song was pieced together to completion--one after another--at Clear Lake Audio in North Hollywood, CA. Recording the overdubs from scratch allowed each song to grow into its own sonic personality.
